Fans of the 1998 fantasy film Practical Magic can get excited—Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are coming back as Sally and Gillian Owens. Warner Bros. Studios confirmed the sequel is happening with a video post shared Tuesday. The studio, owned by CNN's parent company, revealed the film's release date and included a nostalgic spell chant.

Casting a New Spell Together

In the teaser clip, Nicole Kidman begins with the line, "Tooth of wolf and morning dew," followed by Bullock adding, "Something old and something new." The two then say in unison, "Let the spell begin to mix," concluding with the announcement: "Sept. 18, 2026." That's the official release date for Practical Magic 2, which will hit theatres only.

Original Story and Legacy

The original film told the tale of two sisters, raised by their magical aunts in a small town, who embrace their witchcraft to overcome a dark threat—a sinister ex-boyfriend. The 1998 movie also starred Goran Visnjic, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing. The story was adapted from Alice Hoffman's novel of the same name.

While additional casting or plot details haven't been revealed yet, the announcement is already generating buzz among longtime fans. The caption of the announcement read, "The spell is cast. The date is set. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return. Only In Theaters September 18, 2026."
