December 28, 1944 - April 23, 2025 LINCOLN — Sandra Jeanette (Rosson) Bunz, 80, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Sandra was born on December 28, 1944, in Nashville, Arkansas, to Leonard and Elease (Jones) Rosson. She graduated high school in Pryor, Oklahoma.
She then attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma ,where she received her BA in Elementary Education. Sandra married Charles "Jim" Bunz in Wichita, Kansas, in 1968, and they started their family in Wichita before moving to Grand Island. She was employed by Wichita Public Schools as a second grade teacher until her children were born.
Later on, she worked in various roles including state supervisor for Westat, administering achievement tests for public and private schools. Jim and Sandra moved to Lincoln in 2006 to be near family. She was a Deacon as well as a volunteer for the youth programs at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. Her most memorable experience was working with the Make-a-Wish foundation for five years prior to moving to Lincoln. She enjoyed playing bridge and connecting with her "Taco Tuesday" group of friends as well as her Friday coffee group.
She was also active in PEO in Grand Island and Lincoln. Sandra is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lori (Bunz) and Brent Haun of Lincoln; and a son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Tamara (Haberman) Bunz of Lincoln; a sister and brother-in-law, Chuck and Sue (Rosson) King; a niece, Kelly (Drosche) and Brad Vandiver; a nephew, Greg King; and grandchildren, Kory and Alexandria (Rydberg) Bourquin of Lincoln, Jacob, Will, Ellie, Michaela, Lola, and Gemma Bunz of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Leonard and Elease (Jones) Rosson; sister, Carolyn (Drosche) Clouse; and granddaughter, Sylvia Bunz.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St.
, Lincoln, Nebraska. Services will be at 11 a.m.
Monday, April 28, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan, Blvd., Lincoln. Burial will be in the Flower Hill Cemetery in Bennington, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given in Sandra's name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Westminster Presbyterian Church..
