“Under this agreement, DOM-EEB JV will create opportunities for localisation efforts, enable the transfer of technology and knowledge especially for blue collar workforce, and provide industrial competency development initiatives.“All these are to be implemented through collaborations related to the technology for the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) and hydrogen, as covered under DOM-EEB JV’s contract for System Package 2 of the KUTS project.“System Package 2 involves the design, provision, installation and commissioning of various systems including telecommunications, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), automatic fare collection (AFC), computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS), operation control centre (OCC) and information technology system (ITS) for the operation of the ART vehicles,” it added.

Sarawak Metro chief executive officer Mazli Mustaffa signed the agreement with DOM-EEB JV director Vincent Ng, witnessed by chairman of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and Sarawak Metro, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Hussain. With this signing, Mazli hoped to advance Sarawak Metro’s efforts in generating a capable workforce, enabling greater knowledge and expertise sharing, creating employment and economic opportunities, as well as strengthening Sarawak’s public transport system.“Our task is not merely to provide a modern, reliable and sustainable public transport by developing and maintaining the KUTS project, but also develop the local supply chain and create employment opportunities, with our collaborations through the SEED Programme.

“As such, while we take pride in introducing this endeavour in our KUTS project, we require mutual commitment and trust from all our partners to achieve the goals and objectives that we have set,” he added.Meanwhile, DOM Industries Sdn Bhd director Noorfazliyani Mustafa Kamal said: “We do not see our involvement in the SEED Programme as just a duty, we see it as a privilege and we are fully committed to ensuring that our contributions leave a lasting, positive impact, not just through engineering excellence, but through our responsibility to the Sarawak community.“This is because we believe that ‘true success lies not just in what we build, but how we built it, and for whom it is built’,” she added.

Initiated and introduced by Sarawak Metro to leverage on the procurement value of the KUTS project, the SEED Programme is similar to the Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP), which has been implemented for strategic projects throughout the country. The post Sarawak Metro, DOM-EEB JV ink SEED Programme deal to boost local talent, tech transfer in KUTS project appeared first on Borneo Post Online..
