School board candidates urged to fill out election questionnaire

This survey is open to candidates in the following districts: Pottstown, Pottsgrove, Boyertown, Upper Perkiomen, Perkiomen Valley and Spring-Ford.

To inform voters about the candidates running for their local school boards, The Mercury has created an online questionnaire for candidates to fill out. With 46 candidates seeking 38 open seats in nine school board races in three counties, The Mercury no longer has adequate staffing to track down and interview each candidate. However, to get more information about the candidates to voters, and to allow those candidates to explain their views, The Mercury has created a 10-question online questionnaire using Survey Monkey, which candidates are invited to complete and submit by our deadline.

The survey form can be found and filled out online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FHSQ8VQ Candidate responses will form the basis of election preview articles about school board races published before the May 20 primary election.

There will be no individual interviews, and in the interest of fairness, this article serves as the only notification for candidates. All responses received by Tuesday, May 13, will be guaranteed to be included. Those received after that deadline will be included as time and space permit.

Candidates are also asked to email a recent photo of themselves, if they desire, to reporter Evan Brandt at [email protected] to be published with the election previews. This survey is open to candidates in the following districts: Pottstown, Pottsgrove, Boyertown, Upper Perkiomen, Perkiomen Valley, and Spring-Ford.

Given that there are no contests for the open seats in Phoenixville, Owen J. Roberts and Daniel Boone school districts, preview articles will not be published as the results are a foregone conclusion. Should candidates win slots on the November ballot through write-in campaigns or appointment, they will be invited to participate in the questionnaire created for the fall General Election.

Readers who want to know who is running in each school district, whether contested or not, can find that information in an article published on April 2 ..
