The Seattle Seahawks were full of surprises on Friday night during the second and third rounds of the 2025 NFL draft. Their first big move was trading up to select safety Nick Emmanwori at No. 35 overall, but they weren't done with the big splashes.
Seattle capped off their Friday night by drafting quarterback Jalen Milroe out of Alabama at No. 92 overall. Ironically, the No.
92 overall pick used to draft Milroe came from the Las Vegas Raiders in the Geno Smith trade. But the connections to former Seahawks quarterbacks do not end there. Milroe becomes the first quarterback Seattle has drafted in the third round since.

It is evident the Seattle brass fell in love with what they saw from the Crimson Tide standout. The Seahawks were incredibly active at the quarterback position this year.
They signed Sam Darnold, and brought Drew Lock back to be in the mix for the backup role. Now they have drafted Milroe, only the third quarterback selected by the Seahawks during the John Schneider era. What does this mean? Milroe is wildly athletic, but is largely seen as more of a project than a prospect.
However, perhaps Seattle is truly the best location for him. He does not have the pressure of being forced into the starting lineup. Instead he now gets an opportunity to sit on the bench and develop behind at least two veterans in Sam Darnold, and Drew Lock.
As for Sam Howell...
the writing is likely on the wall for the end of his tenure in Seattle. There were rumors swirling around the team was looking to trade him, and with Milroe now in the mix, he could be the odd man out.
