Seven terrorists were killed in a fierce exchange of fire between Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel, security forces, and armed militants near the area of Choutair in Ziarat, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Tuesday. According to CTD sources, the slain terrorists were affiliated with the banned militant outfit Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). Sources said the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants involved in various terror activities.
The CTD sources confirmed that highly sophisticated and heavy weaponry was recovered from the possession of the dead terrorists during the operation. It is worth mentioning that just a day earlier, on Monday, a terrorist was killed while another blew himself up during a heavy gunfight with CTD operatives in Quetta. The incident occurred in the Darakhshan area of the city.
Both slain terrorists were identified as members of the banned outfit Da’esh. During the encounter, CTD teams recovered a suicide jacket along with a significant quantity of arms and ammunition. The intense firefight in Quetta lasted for over an hour.
CTD officials said the militants were planning a major terrorist act in the province, which was foiled due to timely intervention by the department. Furthermore, on April 18, 2025, five terrorists were neutralised in a gun battle with CTD personnel in the Balochistan city of Duki. The dead terrorists were involved in several attacks on labourers and security forces.
Their bodies were shifted to Quetta for identification and further investigation. A CTD spokesperson stated that the slain militants were behind a series of targeted assaults on civilians, workers, and law enforcement agencies, particularly in the Quetta mining region. They were also reportedly involved in past kidnappings.
