Several dead fish believed to be sharks have been spotted washed up on Brighton Beach. The unusual sight has sparked questions about the potential reasons behind their sudden appearance. Andrea Snakeboot Clift was walking on the beach recently with a colleague when she made the discovery.

She said: "We found three of them on the beach bleeding and battered. Andrea discovered three of the fish. (Image: Andrea Snakeboot Clift) "We still have no idea about them or what happened.

" The fish appear to be spiny dogfish known also as spurdog, mud shark, or piked dogfish. According to the Wildlife Trust, spiny dogfish are predators that feed on shellfish and molluscs. They curl up in a doughnut shape when threatened and have tiny "skin teeth" on their skin which makes it feel like sandpaper, offering them further protection.
