A large swath of the Lehigh Valley and Poconos are under a severe thunderstorm warning Tuesday evening.The warning is in effect until 9 p.m.

com/dT2xK30MqD— NWS Mount Holly (@NWS_MountHolly) April 30, 2025Around 8:15 p.m., a line of severe thunderstorms was along a line that extended from Sweet Valley, Luzerne County, to Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, and moving east at 70 mph, according to the warning.

The thunderstorm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts, along with damage to roofs, siding, trees and power lines, the weather service warned.Locations that could be impacted by the thunderstorm include: Lehighton, Neffs, Pocono Pines, Coffeetown, Skytop, Bath, Strausstown, Parryville, North Catasauqua, Ancient Oaks, Sun Valley, Reeders, Chapman, Slatington, Shoemakersville, Jim Thorpe, Beltzville State Park, McMichael, Canadensis and Blakeslee.Major highways that are in the warned area include:Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension I-476 between mile markers 54 and 97Interstate 78 near mile marker 8, and between mile markers 10 and 57Interstate 80 between mile markers 277 and 314Interstate 380 between mile markers 0 and 13.
