Creamline is missing a number of pieces in its title bid in the inaugural 2025 AVC Champions League with the tandem of Tots Carlos and Bea De Leon out for the Cool Smashers. According to head coach Sherwin Meneses, both Carlos and De Leon are nursing minor injuries from their previous grueling run in the PVL All-Filipino Conference, where the club fell to Petro Gazz in the finals. Given the quick turnaround, Creamline deemed it best to let the veteran opposite hitter and middle blocker recover and rest.
"About kay Bea and Tots may minor injuries kasi sila so one week lang 'yung league so dapat 100 percent 'yung ilalaro [while] representing the Philippines," Meneses said on the heels of their sweep win over Al Naser of Jordan on Sunday. "Talagang dapat 100 percent sila. Sa dalawa, minor injuries medyo hindi sila makakaabot sa AVC.
" Aside from Carlos and De Leon, Creamline is also missing the services of decorated libero Denden Lazaro-Revilla. Still, the Cool Smashers imposed their will on the visitors to cruise to a 29-27, 25-20, 25-19 and improve to 1-0 in Pool A. Leading the way this time are import Erica Staunton, who posted 17 points anchored on 13 attacks, three aces, and one block while Alyssa Valdez led the local support with 10 markers.
With Carlos out, Russian import Anastasya Kudryashova started as the opposite spiker while another reinforcement in Anastassiya Kolomoyets suited up as one of the middle blockers. —JKC, GMA Integrated News.
