Television actors Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim found themselves at the center of a social media storm, facing widespread criticism for promoting an upcoming vlog while addressing concerns about their safety following a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. The couple, who were recently vacationing in the region with their son Ruhaan, were accused of insensitivity for prioritizing their content over expressing empathy for the victims of the attack, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, on Tuesday (22 April 2025). The terror attack, perpetrated by terrorists affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF) in Pahalgam, has been described as one of the deadliest civilian attacks in the Kashmir Valley in recent years.
The tragedy sent shockwaves across India, prompting an outpouring of grief and outrage. Amid reports of the attack, fans of Dipika and Shoaib expressed concern for the couple’s safety, given their recent posts showcasing their time in Jammu and Kashmir. Responding to these concerns, Shoaib Ibrahim took to Instagram to reassure followers, writing, “Hi guys, U all have been concerned for our well-being.

.. (We all are safe, we left Kashmir this morning), and we reached Delhi safely.

. New vlog coming soon.” However, Shoaib’s mention of a “new vlog coming soon” triggered a backlash, with many slamming the couple for their ‘tone-deaf’ behavior.
Many accused Dipika and Shoaib of exploiting a tragedy for self-promotion, with comments labeling their actions “insensitive” and “sickening.” “He is still talking about vlog coming soon, is he mad or what,” one user wrote on Reddit. Another user expressed disgust, stating, “Marketing at a time like this is just sickening.
Totally out of touch.” The sentiment was echoed across social media, with one comment reading, “People have died and he put up a story saying a new vlog is coming???” while another user remarked, “He is so shameless he would vlog that also.” The criticism grew more pointed, with some users questioning the couple’s judgment.
“Why are they being such insensitive a*holes,” one person wondered, while a fan shared their disappointment, writing, “I started reading, I was, like, he didn’t say anything offensive then f***r just plugged his vlog damn.” Another exclaimed, “VLOG WHAAAT,” capturing the incredulity felt by many. The outrage extended to accusations of exploiting the tragedy for personal gain.

Since I don’t follow this couple, I always thought that people unnecessarily troll or hate every other celebrity, but now I get it.
They deserve hate for insensitivity. Posting a message regarding his well being was fine but mentioning about vlog is another level of foolishness.” The backlash intensified with calls for action against the couple.
