WHEN offered to record a Hari Raya song with Black Hanifah, Adira Suhaimi's initial reaction was whether their vocals would complement each other."I've known him for some time. But this is the first time we're working together," says Adira, 33, of her partner for the song "Syawal Rindu".
"But Alhamdulillah, it worked out fine."Adira says that despite her initial hesitation, there was no way she would say no to the offer."Black has been in the industry for a while.
He has a wealth of experience."It's an honour for me to record a duet with him," said the Ranau-born singer. She feels that her first collaboration with Black is a new experience despite being in the entertainment industry for over a decade.
"I can feel our synergy working together for this single, creating a creative and enthusiastic atmosphere."We inspire and support each other to produce meaningful work," she said of the project, although they recorded their parts separately."At the same time, I also feel grateful to have been able to learn from Black, an experienced singer.
"I heard that he took only 30 minutes to record his part. Amazing, right?"The song was composed by Rudy Nastia, Aiman Zaidi, Aizad Khan and the lyrics were written by Aiman Zaidi.Unlike other Raya songs released this year that feature catchy tunes, "Syawal Rindu" has a more nostalgic feel, with a melody typically associated with sadness.
Adira said she's glad she chose a song with a slower melody instead of producing another cheery Raya tune."Maybe I'll record something upbeat next year."Black, 37, whose real name is Hanifah Muhammad Hanafiah, said the song has a deep meaning.
"This song touches listeners' souls, making them feel the importance of love and being with their loved ones, especially during this festive season."The song also makes them long to be at home celebrating Hari Raya."© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
