CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT Drug violations • Marijuana was found in a juvenile’s possession in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just before 8:10 a.m. on April 22.
The juvenile was arrested on a Thurston County warrant for a probation violation. • A subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 700 block of North National Avenue just after 12:55 a.m.
on April 24. Assault • Just after 11:35 a.m.
on April 22, a school in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way reported that one student hit another student in the head the day prior. • A man reportedly grabbed someone by the wrist while trying to forcibly enter a residence in the 700 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue just before 4 p.m.
on April 23. The man reportedly used to live at the residence but was told he wasn’t allowed inside. He was arrested for fourth-degree assault.
• A physical dispute involving a woman hitting her boyfriend multiple times was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street just after 11:15 a.m. on April 24.
Gunshots • At 12:30 p.m. on April 22, a resident in the 300 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue reported hearing eight to 10 gunshots at about 3 a.
m. that morning. Criminal trespass • A man reportedly refused to leave a property in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.
m. on April 22. • A possible campsite was reported on private property in the 600 block of West Main Street at approximately 10:30 a.
m. on April 23. • A disorderly man was reportedly banging on the outside of a church while drinking from a small bottle and carrying a pipe in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just after 2 p.
m. on April 23. DUI • A possible DUI was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:55 a.
m. on April 23. • A drunk and disorderly man was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street just before 7:10 p.
m. on April 23. Indecent exposure • Women on the outdoor balcony of an apartment across from a detox facility in the 500 block of Southeast Adams Avenue were reportedly “flashing their tits at staff, patients, everyone” just after 7:55 p.
m. on April 23. Theft • A tire and rim were reported stolen off of a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:40 a.
m. on April 23. • A subject was arrested for shoplifting jeans and a pack of socks from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 10:40 a.
m. on April 23. • A wallet was reported stolen from the 100 block of Southwest Sixth Street just before 2:25 p.
m. on April 24. The theft reportedly occurred between 10:30 and 11:15 a.
m. that day. Suspicious circumstances • A man was reportedly waving a chainsaw “in a threatening manner” in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 11:10 a.
m. on April 23. Scam • A scam involving a caller enrolling someone in Medicaid over the phone was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 12:20 p.
m. on April 23. Vicious dog • A dog reportedly bit an 8-year-old boy in the 300 block of Southeast Third Street just before 4:25 p.
m. on April 23. Juvenile problem • Unattended juveniles were reportedly “causing problems” in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at approximately 8:15 p.
m. on April 23. CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT Vehicle prowl • A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue just after 8:20 a.
m. on April 23. Hit-and-run • A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of North Pearl and West Sixth streets at 9:15 a.
m. on April 23. • A hit-and-run reported at the intersection of South Gold and East Locust streets just before 4:45 p.
m. on April 23 is under investigation. Assault • A juvenile allegedly assaulted several people, including school staff and a law enforcement officer, in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:50 a.
m. on April 23. They were referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court on criminal assault charges.
• A fourth-degree assault involving a juvenile that was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street just before 5:05 p.m. on April 23 is under investigation.
• A man was cited for assaulting his caregiver in the 1800 block of Hillview Avenue just before 11 p.m. on April 23.
Malicious mischief • Just before 1 p.m. on April 23, vandalism to a vehicle in the 900 block of Scheuber Road that occurred at the beginning of the month was reported.
• Just after 1:35 a.m. on April 24, there was a report that a window to a business in the 400 block of East Summa Street had been broken using a rock.
The case is under investigation. Criminal trespass • A 36-year-old Centralia man was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 11 p.m.
on April 23. • A 30-year-old homeless man was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 5:15 a.m.

Sentencings • Cody Lynn Sanders, 32, of Zavalla, Texas, entered In Re Barr pleas April 23 to one count each of third-degree retail theft with special circumstances and bail jumping. An In Re Barr plea allows a defendant to plead guilty to a lesser charge to take advantage of a plea deal.
He was sentenced to four months in jail with credit for three days served and the option to serve the remainder of his sentence on electronic home monitoring. His other cases were dismissed. • Bryan Jacob Hill, 32, of Chehalis, entered an In Re Barr plea April 23 to one count of felony harassment.
An In Re Barr plea allows a defendant to plead guilty to a lesser charge to take advantage of a plea deal. He was sentenced to four months in jail with credit for 59 days served. A 5-year anti-harassment order protecting the victims is in place.
• Brandon J. Pina, 41, of Toledo, was convicted by a jury of one count of first-degree malicious mischief on April 23. He entered an Alford plea that same day to an unrelated count of first-degree theft.
An Alford plea allows a defendant to take advantage of a plea deal without admitting guilt. He was sentenced to nine months in jail, to begin no later than April 30. A 10-year no-contact order in favor of the victim is in place.
Pina has filed to appeal his jury conviction on the malicious mischief charge. A review hearing is scheduled for May 1. FIRE AND EMS CALLS • Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 46 illness-related calls, 18 injury-related calls, 13 fire-related calls, two non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, two medical helicopter requests, one Lifeline medical alert and four other calls.
JAIL STATISTICS • As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 149 inmates, including 136 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 114 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
