AVATR 07 with KUNLUN technology to join lineup, offering UAE drivers more flexible electric mobility. Dubai, UAE – 29 April 2025 – Smart Mobility International (SMI), the exclusive distributor of AVATR electric vehicles in the UAE, will introduce Range-Extended Electric Vehicles (REEVs) to its lineup later this year. This move expands SMI’s offering beyond Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), bringing a more adapta ble electric driving option to UAE roads.
SMI currently offers AVATR’s flagship BEV models – the AVATR 11 and AVATR 12. The upcoming AVATR 07 will be the first to feature KUNLUN, a range-extending system that combines a fully electric drivetrain with a compact petrol-powered generator. The generator charges the battery on the go, reducing reliance on external charging infrastructure.
“As more people consider switching to electric, it’s not just about the car – it’s about how it fits into daily life,” said Moutaz Louis, CEO of Smart Mobility International. “REEVs offer flexibility, especially for long-distance driving, where charging access can be limited. They bridge the gap between today’s infrastructure and tomorrow’s fully electric future.
” Why REEVs Make Sense in the UAE While EV adoption is rising across the UAE, the country’s vast geography, low petrol prices, and mixed access to public charging create a unique environment. For many drivers – especially those commuting between emirates or living in lower-density areas – REEVs offer a practical solution. BEVs are ideal for urban areas with stable access to charging.
REEVs, meanwhile, maintain electric driving while providing the backup of an onboard generator. This makes them suitable for road trips, weekend desert drives, or day-to-day commuting where range confidence matters. “We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach,” added Louis.
“The UAE is made up of many different driving patterns and lifestyles. Our goal is to provide the right vehicle for every journey.” Aligning with National Goals The UAE aims for 50% of vehicles on its roads to be electric by 2050 .
