SNAPSHOT: Rensselaer County 4‐H concludes Tractor Safety Program

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County 4-H, in collaboration with other Capital District 4-H programs, recently concluded a hands-on annual Tractor Safety Program for youth ages 14 and older. The National Safe Tractor and Machinery Operation Program enables young workers (ages 14-19) to obtain a US Department of Labor Certificate of Training which is required to operate farm tractors and equipment off the family farm for youth ages 14 &15. Over four days, participants learned and practiced safe working skills as they apply to an agricultural setting, with hands on instruction and practice in the operation of agricultural equipment and implements.
