It's really important when you think about social media that you realise it's not the real world," she told E! News. "It took me a long time to realise that, and a long time to be secure enough in myself to be like, 'Do I care if somebody doesn't like my hair today, or this thing I sang or how I sang it? I don't.'" Underwood says she has bigger, more important things to worry about in her life.

"I'm 42 years old. I've got two kids I'm trying to raise to be good humans. I'm just out there doing the best I can, so if I want to post something, I'm just going to do it and leave it there," said the chart-topping star, who has sons Isaiah, 10, and Jacob, six, with husband Mike Fisher.

Underwood rose to prominence after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. And the singer has now confessed to being "so naive" during her early years in the music business. "Being on the show when I was 22 years old, every single week was like, 'Do or die, now or never'.

I felt grateful that I even got the opportunity to get to be on the show, and I still feel like that now. I do get nervous for the hopefuls," said the Inside Your Heaven hitmaker, who is now part of the American Idol judging panel. "I do want everybody to win, but alas.

" She previously acknowledged that American Idol changed the course of her life. The singer made the confession as she looked forward to returning to the show as a member of the judging panel. "I went from nobody knowing my name to tens of million of people watching the show," she said.

"I'm proud of everything that I was able to accomplish on the show and I'm so proud of everything I've accomplished since." Australian Associated Press Get the latest Katoomba news in your inbox.
