Whether it's sunbathing in Spain or cruising the Caribbean, going on holiday is the perfect way to relieve stress. Heading to the airport should be exciting but one aspect can often cause a problem - parking. Luckily, Stansted Airport has multiple drop off and pick up points, meaning family and friends can get you on your getaway with ease.
Plus, if you're someone who likes a long farewell, then there's plenty of time (and space!) to do that too. There are three types of short-term parking options available, with some letting drivers stop off for up to four hours. You can find information about each below: Read more: Exact date Essex to be hotter than Barcelona as mini heatwave to sizzle county Read more: ITV The 1% Club viewers divided over 'ridiculous' £96,000 question This is the ideal choice for saying a quick goodbye as it's right outside Departures.
Vehicles can stay here for up to 30 minutes but must not be left unattended. Watch you don't overrun - getting your friend's car towed doesn't exactly scream relaxation! A 15-minute drop off will set you back £7, with anything longer costing £25. Stansted Airport has recently introduced a barrier free system where cars no longer have to stop and pay upon entry.
The carpark is instead powered by automatic number plate recognition and drivers pay online remotely after their visit. This must be completed by midnight the next day. There are also three short stay car parks - each given an easily identifiable orange, green or blue sign close to Departures.
Drivers should head for one of these if they need to drop off OR pick up. Cars can also be exited so they're perfect for taking someone into or meeting someone in the terminal. You can also park here for up to for hours so there's no need to rush.
This again is for pick up and drop off but is further away from the front door. However, a free (and wheelchair accessible) bus service runs to and from the terminal forecourt multiple times an hour. Anyone jumping on a flight should allow up to 20 minutes to their travel time.
Parking here will cost drivers absolutely nothing - so long as they're gone within 60 minutes. An extra hour will incur a £5 charge, with anything over these two hours costing £45. Make sure you don't re-enter the carpark by accident either as that'll set you back a cool £40.
