New York state has officially designated Gloversville as a pro-housing community, city officials announced Monday. The designation comes after multiple attempts to adopt a so-called pro-housing pledge in the Common Council. Mayor Vince DeSantis encouraged the council to support the pledge so the city could be eligible for grant funding only available to pro-housing communities.

With such grants, the city hopes to make headway on enlivening the downtown corridor. Javascript is required for you to be able to read premium content. Please enable it in your browser settings.
