Bengaluru: The residents of Pattandur Agrahara and adjoining areas in Whitefield have a special request for elected representatives and civic officials: Just step out of your chauffeur-driven cars and see the messy condition of roads! The move comes in the backdrop of mounting frustration over crumbling road infrastructure and govt apathy in the city's tech corridor. Fed up with commute-related ordeals, residents of six major apartment complexes stomped the road near Prestige Silver Oaks to stage a demonstration, demanding urgent and long-lasting repair works. The residents pointed to the broken Pattandur Agrahara Road and said: "It is high time authorities step out and take responsibility" for the shoddy state of civic affairs.
Nearly half a kilometre of road behind International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPB), connecting Varthur and Nallurhalli, is riddled with potholes, making daily commute a nightmare for thousands of people, they pointed out. The residents demanded a permanent solution to the crumbling underground drainage (UGD) system and bad roads. Sunil Muralidharan, a 50-year-old techie, said, "The civic body claims to be spending heavily on roads, but where is the money going? It has to reflect on the ground — yet, we don't even have proper roads or UGD systems.
It's a bumpy ride every single day." He added, "They asphalted the roads twice, but it never lasted, and UGD lines keep leaking. They happily collect taxes, but fail to deliver even basic infrastructure.
Why should we pay taxes if there are no returns? It's high time they step out of their cars, face the reality, and fix the problems on the ground." Quote Boxes (with mugshots) Gautam Mishra, resident of Prestige Langleigh Apartments Broken roads and diverted office traffic onto smaller lanes like Pattandur Agrahara Road have made things even worse. We have complained several times, but nothing has changed.
With the rains approaching, it's only going to get worse. Earlier, I stayed silent — not anymore. Even the UGD was leaking, which was done just two years back.
For the taxes we pay, is this what we deserve? We are done with empty answers, now we are demanding the civic officials to come and finish their work as soon as possible. Ramakanth VR, president, Brigade Woods Apartment Owners Association Three years ago, this road was much better, but now, it's completely given up. We tried reaching out to officials multiple times, but nothing happened.
Bad roads are the root cause of everything, from traffic chaos to accidents. We are planning to appeal collectively. This is now not just about inconvenience — it's about risk, safety, and basic living conditions.
Sunil Kumar, 58-year-old resident of Prestige Silver Oaks Apartments This is an outburst of frustration. I run a factory in Kolar and travel daily from Whitefield. It takes me over an hour just to reach OMR Road.
Whitefield has become a nightmare — potholes everywhere, chaotic traffic, and no proper roads. It takes 30 minutes to cover just two kilometres. Due to bad roads and traffic, entire office-going crowd is taking shortcuts through smaller roads, causing even more chaos.
