Indie rockers Razorlight opened their 2025 UK tour in Southampton on Saturday night and showed why they are still a band with the golden touch. Frontman Johnny Borrell, lead guitarist Björn Ågren, bassist Carl Dalemo, Winchester -born drummer Andy Burrows and keyboardist Reni Lane headlined a stunning show of songs from the last 21 years, including from their most recent album Planet Nowhere. Classic singles Stumble and Fall, Before I Fall to Pieces, Somewhere Else and In the Morning sat at ease alongside new numbers like Zombie Love and Dirty Luck, thrilling the O2 Guildhall crowd.

The formidable setlist showed why this band are still packing out venues and festivals as if it was still 2005 and not 2025.

And their final song, America, is still as captivating and intriguing today as it was when it hit number one 19 years ago. No strangers to Southampton, Razorlight played both The Joiners and The University in 2004 and, along with bands like The Libertines and Kaiser Chiefs, were one of the last acts to break through before digital music and digital media broke the dominance of physical sales, the singles chart and the printed press. Earlier, young Bolton four-piece Florentenes, who are already working with legendary Manic Street Preachers producer Dave Eringa on their debut record, played an exciting, frenzied set, while main support Seb Lowe from Oldham and his band put forward a convincing case for one day headlining at venues this size themselves.
