A Jersey department store said it had been overwhelmed by the response to its appeal for Easter eggs to give to families affected by domestic violence. De Gruchy said it chose to support local charity Freeda Jersey which supports women and children who have experienced domestic abuse. The store said people and businesses had been more than "generous" with their donations after launching the appeal on 10 April.
Marketing lead Alana Rimeur said the store received eggs, baskets and vouchers. "I thought maybe we might have to buy a few to kind of make it up," she said. "But actually, the donations have been really good.
