Hull City could be set to welcome back Louie Barry in time to face Derby County in a huge MKM Stadium clash on Saturday in a relegation six-pointer. The on-loan Aston Villa youngster will not be involved on Easter Monday as City look to return to winning ways against Preston North End. But Barry could feature in the final home outing of the campaign four days later when the Tigers' relegation rivals arrive in East Yorkshire and away at Portsmouth on the final day.
City's need has never been greater this season, following Friday's 1-0 loss at Swansea City , which left them just two points above the drop zone with only three games to go. It was another encounter where they failed to create a flurry of chances. Alhough Barry struggled for any meaningful impact before picking up his knee ligament injury at Sunderland in February, having another creative player can only be a positive in a struggling team.
Ruben Selles' side have mustered just two goals in their five games since the international break, and they'll be desperate for the 21-year-old to rekindle the form which saw him net 15 goals in the first half of the season during his successful loan spell with Stockport County at the top of League One. The Tigers hope to get good news from Villa Park over the weekend with Barry given the go-ahead to return to Cottingham on Monday or Tuesday, where he will train with the squad ahead of the penultimate game of the campaign. City will be without Matt Crooks for the visit of North End on Monday afternoon, after he picked up two yellow cards in the space of five minutes at the end of a controversial contest, but there were no injury issues reported from South Wales.
