Former President Maithripala Sirisena, named as a witness in the 2008 abortive LTTE suicide attack on him, gave evidence before the Colombo High Court yesterday (28). The Attorney General has charged two persons, alleged to have aided and abetted the LTTE attempt on 10 October, 2008, targeting the then Minister of Agricultural Development, Maithripala Sirisena. The hearing was conducted before Colombo High Court Judge R.

S.S. Sapuwida.



Former President Sirisena appeared in court in response to an earlier notice issued summoning him as a witness. The female suicide bomber threw herself targeting an SUV, thinking that Sirisena was travelling in it. The blast wounded a former Polonnaruwa Government Agent.
