Several Sussex schools and teachers have been shortlisted for the Tes Schools Awards 2025. The awards, often referred to as the "Oscars of education", honour the best teachers and schools across the UK, spanning early years, primary, and secondary education. A panel of expert judges, including school leaders and sector specialists, selected the shortlist.

This year, 33 schools and teachers from southeast England made the cut, with several representing Sussex. The Sussex schools and educators shortlisted in the 2025 Tes Schools Awards include Brighton Girls Preschool (GDST) for EYFS Setting of the Year, Brighton College Prep School for Independent Prep School of the Year, and Jayne Meadows from Brighton Girls (GDST) for Primary Curriculum Leader of the Year. Brambletye School in West Sussex and Cumnor House in Sussex (county not specified) were also shortlisted for Independent Prep School of the Year.

Rod Williams, CEO of Tes, said: "I'd like to thank all those that entered the Tes Schools Awards this year. "We’ve seen some incredible entries and more nominations this year than ever before, which just shows all the fantastic work that is being done across UK education. "The Tes Schools Awards are a highlight of the education sector calendar, and it's important that we properly recognise the vital work that is being done across UK education, not just from the past academic year, but on a daily basis.

" The awards feature 22 categories, covering all aspects of school education. This year, "Inclusive Trust of the Year" was introduced as a new category. The "Lifetime Achievement Award" will be revealed on the awards night.

The winners will be announced at a grand gala on June 20 at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, London..
