Take 5: Perth’s best Farmers Markets

The best way to shop is with a basket in hand at these popular farmers markets. A great way to start the weekend right.

Bentley, Saturdays, 7.15am to 12.15pm With a huge selection of fruit and veg, this is a popular place for serious foodies to come and shop.

There is live music, a good selection of food trucks, and even a Containers For Change stall so you can get your recycling done while doing your shopping. How wholesome is that? Subiaco, Saturdays, 8am to noon One of the oldest farmer’s markets in Perth, these guys are legendary for setting the blueprint for the rest. A great selection of fruit and veg and lots of cute crafty things to buy.



It doesn’t have as much room to move as some of the others, but it’s a great place to grab a coffee and have a wander around. Beaconsfield, Sundays, 8am to noon. Grab the Birkenstocks — we’re going to Freo.

There is fresh fruit and veg, heaps of food trucks, and every second week you can take a cold plunge in a communal ice bath. Take your picnic rug to lie out on the oval and enjoy your breakfast while soaking in the Freo vibes. North Perth, Saturdays, 8am to 11.

30am This is a smaller market, but it has everything you need to get your weekend started right. There is a great selection of fruit and veg, and you can reward yourself for getting your shopping done with a pricey croissant from Wild Bakery. The nearby playgrounds are great for kids, and there is usually a Lego corner for the youn’uns too.

Kalamunda, Sundays 8am to noon We love the hills vibe at this bustling market that not only has a wide variety of stalls, but a great line-up of buskers to maintain the lively atmosphere. Grab a coffee, a plate of the good stuff from Sho Dumplings, and let the kids go nuts on the bouncy castle. Sunday morning perfection.
