Police in Abbotsford say they impounded 12 vehicles late Sunday and early Monday, including a taxi that was going double the speed limit with four passengers inside. Six of the drivers were impaired, while the other half were speeding excessively, according to the Abbotsford Police Department. Five of the impaired drivers had their licences suspended for 90 days and vehicles taken away for 30, and one received a three-day driving ban and a three-day vehicle impound.
Meanwhile, the drivers caught speeding received tickets and had their vehicles impounded for a week—including the taxi, which police say was travelling 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Police notified the Passenger Transportation Board, the tribunal that regulates taxis, about the incident and it can choose to follow up with the cab driver’s company..
