With Earth Month 2025 ongoing, Telus has announced two new offers to support reforestation efforts following record-breaking wildfires that affected much of North America. From April 17 until May 15, Telus will be running the Buy one, Plant one deal. For every new or certified pre-owned Android device purchased, Telus will plant a tree in a wildfire-affected area.

Telus adds that if a pre-owned device is traded in, one bonus tree will be planted. According to a press release, the deal is available online or via customer service representatives in select Telus/Koodo stores. Telus also announced limited-edition tree tote bags (Tree Totes) that will be available at select Telus stores nationwide.

The 100 per cent recyclable tote bags will cost $3, and Telus will plant one tree for every bag purchased in wildfire-affected areas in Canada. To put it into perspective, Telus has planted 19 million trees across Canada, or roughly the size of Vancouver. They have also prevented 15 million devices from going into landfills, including over four million mobile devices, since 2010.

Telus also has a bring-it-back program , allowing mobile devices to be easily traded to reduce the cost of the new smartphone a customer wants to purchase. This program further prevents mobile devices from being sent to landfills. According to a study from the USDA , planted areas grew back 25.

7 per cent faster than environmentally similar, unplanted areas. Planted seedling survival also averaged 79.5 per cent after one growing season.
