An upper-level disturbance approaching from the west will stall over portions of the state, keeping rain and storms in the forecast through Sunday.

HOUSTON — You might want to keep an eye on the forecast heading into Easter weekend. A storm system is expected to approach from the west and will bring rain and storm chances for Saturday and Easter Sunday. There is a chance that storms could be severe for a large portion of the state as a frontal boundary sweeps though on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk for severe storms along I-35 from San Antonio, Austin to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex for Saturday. By Sunday the severe threat shifts east and includes the north Houston suburbs and areas along I-69 to Lufkin. If you have travel plans for Friday evening, expect isolated scattered showers and storms from the northern Rio Grande Plains, northern Hill Country and along the I-35 corridor in central Texas.

Cloudy skies and stray showers are expected along I-45 from Houston to Dallas. Isolated showers and storms are possible during the warmest parts of the day, but chances of rain and storms are expected to ramp up late in the evening as a frontal boundary will sweep across the state. You might want to start your travel plans early if you are taking off on Saturday.

Storms Saturday late evening could be strong from San Antonio to Dallas/Fort Worth. These storms will continue moving toward east and southeast Texas into the early hours of Easter Sunday morning. As the Pacific cold front continues moving into southeast Texas, weather models are hinting that the system could stall as it approaches the Gulf Coast.

This could mean that we could see scattered showers and storms and gloomy conditions for Houston and Galveston for much of the day. This also means that grounds could remain wet outdoors, especially for the outdoor easter egg hunts. As weather models are in disagreement on when rain could end on Sunday, timing is still uncertain.

We could see rain and storms lasting into Monday..
