TGI Fridays has shut its Stoke-on-Trent restaurant forever. The branch on Hanley's Etruria Road now has a notice in the door saying 'closed'. The news comes after a rescue deal for TGI Fridays - which serves American-diner style food - saw 51 restaurants acquired by new owners last October after the previous UK operator collapsed into administration.
The Hanley restaurant was one of those initially saved from closure but the stay of execution didn't last long and the venue has now shut for good. It is not yet known how many job have been lost as a result. The £1.
2 million Hanley branch opened on Etruria Mills Retail Park in August 2017 and boasted a Robbie Williams-themed corner and a ship named after Sir Stanley Matthews. It has 890 TripAdvisor reviews - with 536 of them rated 'excellent' with the most recent one posted last month. StokeonTrentLive has approached TGI Fridays for a statement.
However, the chain has posted online: "Stoke-on-Trent TGI Fridays is now permanently closed. Thank you to all who visited us. It was a pleasure serving you.
