Opinions expressed by Digital Journal contributors are their own.More than ever, entrepreneurs and creators strive to grow an online audience. However, many don’t have the time to devote to social media.
Although the creator economy is booming, many people have expertise and influence but no platform to cut through the noise and reach their audience. When he founded Amplify, a personal brand agency, Joe Gannon sought to change all of that. He wanted to help these people be seen and heard, and unlock opportunities through content.
As a result, Joe has become a trusted brand strategist capable of enabling modern thought leaders to grow influence at scale.Joe Gannon’s credentialsJoe has spent several years helping founders, creators, and CEOs build world-class personal brands. His work spans brand strategy, social content, and audience building.
Today, he runs Amplify, a personal branding agency where he and his team help clients become the authority in their industry. However, his journey began working as the youngest team member at a university. Joe’s career began at Cambridge University, where he managed their social accounts and learned the art of audience engagement.
While in this position, he realized LinkedIn’s untapped potential as a social media platform and seized the opportunity. In 2019, he noticed that Cambridge University’s LinkedIn page had some of the highest engagement compared to its other channels, prompting him to post videos on his own profile long before it was common on the platform. This early success netted him the attention of a student named Ali Abdaal, who had a successful YouTube channel and had just launched a podcast.
Ali hired Joe to grow his LinkedIn profile, a job that continued to expand until Joe became the manager of Ali’s entire content strategy for three years. Joe grew Ali’s audience from 20,000 to 800,000 followers across platforms, playing an integral role in turning Ali into a globally recognized creator. This success led to other freelance positions with the likes of Speechify CEO Cliff Weitzman and ultimately inspired the birth of Amplify.
Amplify’s abilitiesWith Amplify, Joe builds streamlined systems and content funnels tailored to seven to eight-figure entrepreneurs. Amplify has helped clients become New York Times best-selling authors and high-impact educators. Through it all, Joe has remained boundlessly passionate about making elite-level personal branding accessible to creators at every stage of growing their audience.
As Joe says, “For me, content has never just been about visibility, it’s about impact. Watching thoughtful experts struggle to translate their ideas into consistent, high-leverage content made me realize there was a gap to fill. That’s why I built Amplify’s frameworks and tools: to give people clarity and control over their online presence.
”Challenges overcomeA persistent challenge Joe has faced throughout his career has been helping clients define their brand statements clearly. The world of online content is now so oversaturated that it is of the utmost importance for a given creator’s posts to stand out and make a lasting impact on their audience. As Joe details, “The majority of people never post online, or are never consistent, because they struggle with impostor syndrome, knowing what to post, and in general, this lack of clarity freezes them.
”To solve this, he developed the StrateTree framework and loaded his team’s best LinkedIn content, newsletters, and client call transcripts into a free AI tool, the Personal Brand GPT. These tools have ensured that no one working with Amplify has ever felt stuck on what to post about again.
