In the heart of Summerville, The Loft Salon is celebrating a milestone – 25 years of business in the community. Co-owner Julie Curry, who has been with the salon from the start, reflects on the journey with gratitude and pride. “We’ve been in Summerville the whole time, moving around a bit but always staying local,” Curry said.

“We started in a different neighborhood, but we’ve been here for a long time.” The salon began in a 1,900-square-foot space on Trolley Road and spent nearly two decades there before relocating two years ago to a quieter, more intimate location at 318 N. Cedar St.

, Suite C, in downtown Summerville." Curry attributes much of the salon’s longevity to consistent service and a strong commitment to their clients. “We’ve been doing this for so many years,” Curry said.

“We’ve stayed consistent and loyal to our clients. We don’t price gouge; I increase prices a little every few years.” The salon’s success is also rooted in the personal connections the team builds with clients.

“It’s crazy, like, everybody knows everybody,” Curry said. “We’ve been doing hair for so long that we now do generational cuts. I’ll do the daughter while Cindi does the mother – it’s a real community vibe.

” Curry, business partner Cindi Venittelli, and four other staff members comprise the team, which prides itself on creating a tight-knit atmosphere. “We love being in town,” Curry said. “We’re off the beaten path and don’t want a lot of walk-in traffic.

We like the personal appointments.” Despite not having a formal mission statement, Curry summarized the salon’s philosophy simply: “One good haircut at a time.” Alongside its dedication to haircare, the team is known for its animal welfare commitment.

“We take care of stray cats around our shop,” Curry said. “We’ve fixed, tagged and released over 20, and we buy them food. It’s something we’re passionate about.

” Curry said the team looks forward to continuing its work, knowing that the bonds it has built in the Summerville community are its greatest accomplishment. To commemorate its anniversary, the salon is reflecting on the many relationships it has fostered over the years and planning a special story to share its journey with the community. “It’s about relationships,” Curry said.

“It’s about the people.”.
