GaadiWaadi -If launched in India, the MG CyberX could be an even bigger blockbuster than the MG Windsor for JSW MG MotorAt Auto Shanghai 2025 this morning, SAIC Motor took the covers off the MG CyberX, a new pure electric boxy SUV. It’s still in the concept stage, but it’s not hard to tell that it would serve as a perfect rival for the Tata Sierra.ev in our market if launched.

The MG CyberX is about 4.30 metres long, which puts it in the same segment as the Tata Sierra.ev as well as the softer-looking Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti e Vitara.

“It’s about 4 metres 30 (centimetres) long, but in this proportions, it’s a pure power, it’s strong,” SAIC Design Vice President Jozef Kaban said at the world premiere. The conventional shape gives the MG CyberX a brute SUV look, but that’s not the only old-school thing about it. “And there is one more thing,” Kaban added, in a build-up to one of the concept’s most intriguing features.

“If you look at the face, the eyes will open,” the design boss announced, as the EV’s twin headlights popped open from under the hood. Also Read: MG Majestor Spied Testing Undisguised Again As Launch NearsIt’s unclear at this point whether the production MG CyberX will also feature pop-up headlights. The concept has two more levels of lighting, including a thick light bar stretching across the width below the pop-up headlights and fog lights further below.

Interestingly, this is one of the rare split headlamp setups where the main lights sit above the DRL strip. The upright front and rear fascias, the high ground clearance, the large 20-inch wheels, the muscular wheel arches, and the overall squarish look give the MG CyberX a commanding presence. The dimensions and proportions seem like a perfect fit for Indian premium SUV customers.

Then there’s also a strong touch of modernism, as evident in the flush door handles and roof rails, aerodynamic wheels, and the full-width tail lamps. Also Read: Soon-Launching MG M9 Electric MPV For India – New Details OutGiven the early success of the MG Windsor, it won’t be surprising if JSW MG Motor is already contemplating launching the production version of the MG CyberX in India. It will easily be a one or two-year wait before we see such a model in Indian showrooms, though, if at all.
