EXCLUSIVE: The Sacrifice , a psychological horror flick from filmmaker Prime Cruz and starring veteran director Lav Diaz, has begun production in the Philippines. Lovi Poe ( Seasons ), Timothy Granaderos ( 13 Reasons Why ), and Enchong Dee ( GomBurZa ) lead the film’s cast alongside Diaz. Marietta Subong also stars.
The film follows a group of travel vloggers who find themselves in a remote village haunted by ancient rituals and a terrifying legend. Directed by Cruz from an original screenplay penned by Jerrold Tarog, The Sacrifice is produced by Montgomery Blencowe ( Heist ) and Poe under the C’est Lovi Productions banner, with Mark Stewart ( Escape Plan ) serving as producer under Kind Hearts Entertainment. The film has support from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
Casting is by Thomas Sullivan. The film will be shot entirely on location in the Philippines. Poe stars following her recent turn as Attorney Alexis Miranda in the Netflix legal drama Guilty Pleasure .
Granaderos, best known for playing Montgomery De La Cruz in 13 Reasons Why , joins the project after recently wrapping production on the upcoming thriller Ascent . Dee was most recently seen in the historical epic GomBurZa (2023) and the Netflix original Outside (2024). Watch on Deadline Diaz is the veteran filmmaker behind titles like The Woman Who Left , which won the Golden Lion in Venice in 2016.
