A town in Bolton has been ranked very highly in a list of the best places to live in the borough. Westhoughton ranks as the 14th best place to live in the North West, the 11th best in Greater Manchester, and 100th out of 1447 places in the UK - placing it in the top seven per cent. The town ranked highly on schools, employment, connectivity , and its natural environment, in Garrington Property Finders' survey.
With an average family home costing £373,640, it's not the most expensive place to live in the country either. "It is a very welcoming community, I've lived here all my life, I've seen the changes, and people get upset about housing development, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that when people move here become part of the community.
"We’ve got good schools, it’s a nice place to live, we do have crime and people causing bother, but in general, it doesn’t have major problems. We've a number of organisations that help and support people from all backgrounds. "And the main thing is people feel belonging.
" The town of Bolton was ranked as the 430th best place to live in the UK. Farnworth was ranked 477th, and above the fellow Bolton town of Horwich, which came 512th. Kearsley scored towards the halfway mark with 669th, with Blackrod, Little Lever and Little Hulton ranking in the 700s.
