The village of Competa has been honoured with the “Pueblos con Alma” award, together with seven other special destinations in Andalusia. The recognition was part of the Traveller Review Awards 2025, hosted by travel platform Booking, during a ceremony held at the Palacio de Congresos in Cordoba. Mayor of Competa, Rosa Luz Fernández, attended the ceremony and expressed her pride as her town won the honours.
Competa has a population of just 3,735 residents, but it is known for its authentic vibe and natural beauty. Recently, the small town from Axarquia concentrated much of its efforts on sustainable tourism and promoting its rich traditions . Competa is renowned for its celebrations such as La Noche del Vino, Día de las Cruces de Mayo, and the Feria del Barrio, as well as its gastronomic heritage.
