FLORENCE — Kathy and Mike Femminella will soon bring a taste of Italy to Florence. Their restaurant, Positano Italian Specialty Foods, will serve food with ingredients straight from Italy and offer catering. Mike Femminella, who's from Italy, promises the food will be authentic.
"It will be the most authentic Italian food. We will have the quality and good service to the customer," he said. Positano Italian Specialty Foods will provide take home Italian and catering from their location at 1506 Second Loop Road, Unit B in Florence.
Positano Italian Specialty Foods will be unique because the ingredients will be imported from Italy and the sauces, pasta and mozzarella cheese will be made fresh daily, he said. The menu will include meatball heroes, chicken parmesan, baked ziti, eggplant parmesan and rotini. "A real taste of Italy," Kathy Femminella said.
The Femminellas are working with several companies to bring in food, including bread, from Italy. The bread is cooked halfway, frozen and shipped to Florence. Bread will be baked fresh every morning.
"You will smell all the fresh baked bread in the morning in the store," he said. "And they will get to smell all of my food. Everything is going to be made fresh in the store.
" Mike Femminella has 35-years experience in the restaurant business. Kathy Femminella was in the medical profession. They moved from New York to Florence in October 2024.
They were looking for a warmer climate, the peace and quiet of a smaller city and friendly people. When Positano Italian Specialty Foods at 1506 Second Loop Rd, Unit B opens, the hours will be 10 a.m.
to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
They'll offer take-out food. It will be joining several other restaurants coming to Florence, including Dave's Hot Chicken and Panda Express..
