What a horribly disappointing result it was. In what proved to be Thomas Müller’s last Champions League match for Bayern Munich , the Bavarians were kicked out at the quarterfinal stage by Inter Milan . The team’s performance certainly did not fit the occasion.

But the fan’s performance certainly did. Speaking after the match, Müller spoke about the emotions he felt hearing the fans chant his name even after the aggregate loss. “The emotional moment happened in the on-field interview [after the match].

The entire fan section was still there. They applauded and chanted my name,” der Raumdeuter said in a thick voice, via @iMiaSanMia . “I had goosebumps.

You can’t control that. I couldn’t say “I should try to get goosebumps because they will really fit the situation”. They came on their own.

I enjoyed it.” What an emotional night it was. The fans certainly did hold up their end of their bargain tonight to honor the legendary Bayern player.
