4,500 visitors attended The Tank Museum’s Spring Tiger Day to see the world’s only running Tiger I tank in action.

Highlights of the day included a recreation of the capture of Tiger 131, and a Second World War tank display, including fellow Hollywood film star Sherman ‘Fury’. There was also a special appearance from the Museum’s recently restored FV4005, a1940s British prototype fitted with an 183mm L4A1 gun - the biggest ever to be fitted to a tank. Marketing and Communications Manager, Lucy McCalister, said: “Tiger 131 is a truly unique vehicle.

It was the first Tiger I to be captured by the western Allies in WWII and is the only surviving example that you can see in action. “It’s fantastic to see that at over 80 years old, Tiger 131 continues to draw crowds from around the world to the Museum to learn about the history of tanks and the crews that served in them.” Tiger 131 runs only twice a year on Tiger Day in April and September.

Tickets are on sale for Tiger Day Autumn on September 20. Booking in advance is strongly recommended as Tiger Day is a sell-out event. Find out more on The Tank Museum’s website, tankmuseum.
