One weekend leaves Charleston police 3 shootings to investigate.

The past weekend left Charleston police with three different shootings to investigate. The first occurred on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m.

, Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies were pursuing a stolen vehicle in West Ashley, according to a statement released by Sgt. Chris Stinson. Police ended their pursuit when the vehicle entered downtown Charleston.



A short time later, Charleston Police officers responded to a crash involving the stolen vehicle at Romney Street and North Romney Street. Officers said a bystander who witnessed the crash approached the vehicle to help but one of the vehicle’s occupants shot the bystander. A hospital treated and released the bystander.

A police K-9 unit helped officers find and arrest the vehicle’s teenaged occupants. A 15-year-old was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, and reckless driving. A 13 year-old was charged with attempted murder, assault and battery, and possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. April 26 Later the same morning at Spanish Oaks Apartments in West Ashley, police found a teenager who reported being pistol-whipped, robbed then shot, all while on the victim’s front porch.

The victim went to a hospital and is expected to recover. Police say victim and suspect knew each other. Sunday, April 27, 2025, early morning Police patrolling near America and Johnson Streets heard about 12 gunshots.

They found a teen victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital. Stinson’s statement said that as police helped the victim “a large and unruly crowd gathered, creating a volatile situation.

” Additional officers from other jurisdictions were called for help. Chief Chito Walker said, "This weekend’s violence was largely driven by teenagers with guns. It is a hard reminder of a deeper issue.
