Three rob Pune jeweller of Rs20L with toy gun

1 2 3 Pune: Three men threatened a jewellery store owner with a toy gun and robbed gold jewellery weighing around 22 tolas worth over Rs20 lakh around 2.50pm on Tuesday in Raikar Mala, Dhayari. Deputy commissioner of police (zone III) Sambhaji Kadam told TOI, "The jeweller, Vishnu Dahiwal (42) of Dhayari, was in his store, Shri Jewellers, along with an attendant, when the three men with their faces covered with masks, barged in and pointed the gun to his head.

They slapped and punched Dahiwal and picked up the jewellery before making a swift exit from the store. The three were conversing with each other in Hindi." Kadam said, "There were no customers in the store at the time of the incident.



Dahiwal did not see the ‘gun' as he was frightened." Senior inspector Atul Bhos of Nanded City police told TOI, "Due to the physical abuse, Dahiwal's blood pressure shot up so he was taken to a hospital for treatment. He suffered injuries to his head in the assault.

In the melee, the toy gun broke into pieces. We have recovered the hilt section from the store. It is made of plastic," Bhos said.

"We have initiated a process to register a case of robbery," he added. The police examined CCTV footage collected from the store as well as adjoining shops and locations to identify and trace the suspects. "CCTV footage revealed the trio were riding triple seat.

They went towards Dhayari Phata on Sinhagad Road," he said..
