TikTok astrologer arrested after viral earthquake prediction

A TikTok astrologer has been arrested for predicting a major earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand earlier this month. The two countries were hit by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake March 28.

John Moe The — a Myanmar-based astrologer — predicted on TikTok another major quake to hit Burma / Myanmar on April 21. The post went viral but the major earthquake did not happen. Moe The, 21, was arrested by police earlier this week for making “false statements with the intention of causing public panic", according to Myanmar's information ministry and the BBC.
