Tina Knowles Breast Cancer Diagnosis Explained

She urged women to get regular mammograms and admitted that she had missed a mammogram appointment herself. Knowles has included the struggles with the diagnosis in her new extensive memoir, Matriarch.

What happened to Tina Knowles?Tina Knowles, 71, was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in her left breast in July 2024. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor and a breast reduction procedure. Knowles gave details of her experience with a breast cancer diagnosis during an interview for the latest issue of People’s World’s Most Beautiful issue.



“I’m doing great,” she told the outlet. “Cancer-free and incredibly blessed that God allowed me to find it early.”The philanthropist emphasized the importance of women getting regular mammograms and advised others not to skip them.

She revealed that she had missed an appointment herself. “I forgot that I didn’t go to get my test two years before I thought I had,” she recalled, “because Covid came and they called me and canceled me and they said, we’ll call you when we start testing again. And I just thought I had done it.

So you cannot play around with that.”Knowles mentioned that she didn’t have breast cancer genes and noted that there was no history of the disease in her family. She also spoke about why she ultimately decided to include her struggle with the disease in Matriarch.

She said that she was a private person, but eventually decided to do it because she believed there were “a lot of lessons” in her experience with the disease for other women.In the book, Knowles also wrote about how her children received the news. While Beyoncé “took it well” and stayed “positive,” Solange told her, “Mom, we are going to take care of this.
