Titanic and Lord of the Rings actor Bernard Hill dies aged 79

Showbiz Lord of the Rings and Titanic actor Bernard Hill has died aged 79, his agent has confirmed. Hill played King Theoden in the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as Captain Edward Smith in the 1997 Titanic film. He won 11 Academy Awards throughout his acting career.

Hill also brought to life the character of Yosser Hughes in the legendary drama series Boys from the Blackstuff. His agent Lou Coulson told BBC News that the actor died in the early hours of this morning. A statement from his family is expected soon.
