Titans Sign Former Auburn Standout to Contract

The Titans added a former Auburn Tigers star.

New general manager Mike Borgonzi put together an excellent class in his first NFL Draft with the Tennessee Titans. After serving 16 years as a high-level executive for the Kansas City Chiefs, he performed admirably in his inaugural draft, calling all the shots.The Titans landed Cam Ward with the first overall pick, who is the obvious headliner for the class, but the team also landed several instant-impact players in the middle and later rounds.

Raikes was a defensive tackle for the Tigers, and he'll look to carve out a role in Tennessee.The Titans already have a strong defensive front, but they could not pass up the opportunity to add Raikes into the mix. In his final three college seasons at Texas A&M and Auburn, he recorded 49 tackles, including eight for a loss and 1.

5 sacks.Raikes may not be a player who earns much playing time early in his career, but if he can make an impact on special teams, that will increase his chances of making the roster. At the very least, Raikes will serve as a strong camp body and try to land on the practice squad.
