Tuesday’s Senior Night game against Central Piedmont 4-A conference rival West Forsyth did not go as planned for the East Forsyth varsity baseball team, and then Titans managed to hold off the Eagles 4-3 on Thursday despite a solid pitching performance from Eagles pitcher Peyton Crews.West Forsyth claimed a 14-2 win last Tuesday, April 22, against East. East Forsyth High School Head Coach Drew Dull chalked up the loss to the emotions of the night.

“Tuesday was kind of a fluke thing. You are dealing with high school players, and I think it was an indication of whatever they were feeling on Senior Night. We just had that one bad inning,” he said.

The Eagles came up just short in Thursday’s away game against West Forsyth.Crews pitched five solid innings and had four strikeouts. Brodie Lenhart closed out the game.

East rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Isaac Logan hit single and Carter Long hit a one-out single. Ashton Fields drove in a run with a single.

An error on a ball hit by Craig McGhee brought in Long. West secured the win with an out with the tying run on second base.Tuesday’s game was Senior Night for the Eagles’ Wesley Alderson-Geisler, Austin Federspiel, Brodie Lenhart, Anthony Martinez, Eben Greene, Jordan Turner, Jameson O’ Ferrell, Ray Hutchins, Reagan Stone and Connor Stone.

“They have done a lot in four years there. They had to go through the short COVID-19 season and then adjust back to a full season. They are close to 70 wins over the years.

We have seniors, guys going into the Air Force and the Navy. We have four seniors in the top of their senior class. Not only were they good on the field, but they were extraordinary in the classroom,” Dull said.

With the two wins, West Forsyth stayed undefeated in the Central Piedmont 4-A and won the regular season title, giving it a top eight seed in the upcoming Class 4-A playoffs. Reagan finished second in the conference, closing out the regular season with a 12-2 conference record and 18-4 overall.East Forsyth, 16-7 overall and 10-4 in the CP 4-A, was scheduled to play host Monday evening, past the Kernersville News’ deadline, to Mount Tabor (6-12) in the first round of the CP 4-A Conference Tournament.
