Tombwater Demo Has Emerged on Steam Today

A Cursed Town Awaits in TombwaterMidwest Games has partnered with Max Mraz of Moth Atlas to launch the demo of Tombwater on Steam today. It is a 2D souls-like action RPG steeped in eerie Western horror. Mraz, known for Ocean’s Heart and Yarntown, a fan-made reimagining of Bloodborne, brings his signature pixel art style and atmospheric storytelling to a new, unsettling frontier.

Tombwater takes players to a once-thriving mining town, now haunted by eldritch forces and forgotten horrors. What was once a place of community and commerce has turned into a desolate grave, its population consumed by madness. Players take on the role of a gunslinger drawn back by the mysterious disappearance of Sheriff Elliott Flintwood—their only ally in a town unraveling at the seams.



In the newly released demo, players glimpse the town’s shadowy past and begin their descent into madness. The tutorial introduces the core combat mechanics and offers a taste of the dangers to come. Blending firearms, blades, spells, and arcane relics, this game encourages players to shape their own playstyle.
