Basavanagudi residents Shamala, 63, and Nirmala, 75, said: "Indians have always been secular and we never had a divide between communities. But Pakistan, through such acts, is escalating tension between the communities." Prahalad Reddy, who travelled from Kanakapura for the march, said: "I wanted to express solidarity with the bereaved families.

Incidents like this should not happen anywhere in the country." Echoing similar sentiments, Annadaani Patel from Jayanagar said, "The attack hurt the lives and minds of everyone in India. The problem comes from the mindset of certain people who think anything is justified for their religion and they try to identify and target people based on that.

We are here to protest that mindset." During the march, Surya criticised the state govt for offering only Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the families of the terror attack victims. He announced that Rs 15 lakh was raised during the march itself, which would be distributed to the two affected families by Monday morning.

He also urged the govt to provide a fixed deposit of Rs 1 crore to each family for their children's education, warning that if the govt failed, the people of South Bengaluru would crowd-fund the compensation themselves..
