Ipswich Town are reportedly looking to tie down striker George Hirst to a new contract amid interest from two sides who have just been promoted to the Premier League. The 25-year-old joined the Blues from Leicester City following a loan spell, where he helped them secure promotion from League One, signing a four-year deal. He registered seven goals and six assists in the Championship last season, missing a chunk of the campaign with a hamstring injury.

This season in the Premier League, he has two goals and one assist from just three starts. His minutes have been limited due to the form of Liam Delap, who is seemingly attracting significant interest from top Premier League clubs following reports that his buy-out clause will be £30m in the event of relegation. Hirst could have a big part to play next season as a result, which is why transfer expert Pete O'Rourke claims that they are 'desperate' to keep him.

O'Rourke added that there is 'potential interest' in the Scottish international from Leeds United and Burnley, who were both promoted from the Championship on Monday..
