A passenger was taken to hospital after a crash involving a car closed a busy Nottinghamshire route. Nottingham Road in Kimberley , near both junction 26 of the M1 and the A610, was shut by police following an incident on Saturday (April 26) night. The incident has been confirmed by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service , with a spokesperson saying: “We received a call at 8.
58pm on Saturday to a report of an RTC on Nottingham Road, Kimberley. “Two crews from Stockhill, a crew from Highfields and the Specialist Rescue Unit from Highfields attended the incident. Firefighters worked to extract the passenger from the car, who was trapped, and they were then conveyed to the hospital via ambulance.
" Traffic information service Inrix first reported the incident at around 9.10pm on Saturday. A local resident has confirmed it was back open this morning.
A spokesperson for the traffic monitoring service said: "Nottingham Road is closed in both directions. "The closure is in place from The Stag Inn pub to the A610. This is due to an accident involving a car.
" The statement added that fire crews left the scene at 9:52pm. The road is a popular route among those living in Eastwood and Langley Mill travelling towards Nottingham and the M1 and vice versa. Nottinghamshire Live has reached out to Nottinghamshire Police for comment.
