CAMERON, Texas — A severe thunderstorm that moved through Central Texas damaged multiple properties in the Cameron area May 6. The storm, part of a larger weather system affecting multiple counties across the region, brought damaging winds and heavy rainfall to Milam County shortly after noon. Emergency management officials report no serious injuries at this time, though dozens of structures sustained damage.

" The powerful winds tore through Moon's rural property, launching his metal carport into nearby trees and scattering debris across his yard. Post oak and cedar trees were snapped throughout his property. "The grill blew off the driveway, and trees are down everywhere out here," Moon said.

The Milam County Sheriff's Office reported multiple roads blocked by downed trees and power lines following the storm. Moon, who lives with several animals on his property, expressed relief that his livestock survived the ordeal unharmed. "I was worried about the steers, well, the horse too.

He's not smart enough to get inside. He was outside during the blow," Moon said. As the region enters what forecasters predict could be an active severe weather season.

Moon, like many rural residents, takes such events in stride. "It's gonna happen, it's gonna happen, and that's just part of living in Central Texas and living out in the country," Moon said..
