Trump has lowest 100-day approval rating of any president in the past 80 years

Donald Trump’s approval rating, after his first 100 days back in office, is lower than that of any US president in the past 80 years.A poll for ABC News, The Washington Post and Ipsos showed that just 39 per cent of respondents approved of the job Trump was doing – down six per cent since late in February – while 55 per cent said they disapproved. The previous low in polls stretching back to 1945 was Trump’s 42 per cent in 2017.

(Scott Olson/Getty Images)Sixty-two per cent said they didn’t believe think Trump’s administration respected the rule of law, while 53 per cent disapproved of his stance on immigration and 67 per cent opposed plans to end birthright citizenship, under which anyone born in the US is a citizen.



Trump was “going too far” by closing federal agencies, 57 per cent of those surveyed said. Earlier this month, in response to a governmental freeze on international aid funding, activists stacked 200 fake coffins outside the State Department and warned that people would die without the President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief.In January, poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight reported that Trump’s initial approval rating was plus seven percentage points – lower than any newly elected president since WWII.

The president accused the pollsters, which included right-wing TV channel Fox News, of being “negative criminals” who suffered from the so-called Trump Derangement Syndrome.“These people should be investigated for election fraud and add in the Fox News pollster while you’re at it,” he raged on his own social media platform, Truth Social, The Independent reported.Share your thoughts!
